The Bands Tent
The Brandy Thieves - Already renowned as one of the Midland’s best live acts, The Brandy Thieves have quickly built a reputation as a band that blows the roof over every venue they play, a band that’s impossible not to dance to. By combining gypsy rhythms and punk energy, ska grooves and folk storytelling, the band has created a sound that is uniquely their own, a sound that has stolen the hearts of all of whom that have seen them perform. ‘Raucous’ 'Infectious' 'Enthralling' 'Captivating' and 'Sweaty' are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the alcohol stealing gypsy punks.
The last two years have witnessed the band sharing stages with the likes of Alabama 3, Skinny Lister, Ferocious Dog, Neville Staple (The Specials), The Dub Pistols, Urban Voodoo Machine, Toploader, The Rumjacks to name a few. The five piece are sure to be the highlight for many gig and festival goers, The Brandy Thieves are a band not to be missed.
GoldWater - GoldWater bring together a fresh approach to some old styles of music, taking influences from blues, 60's psychedelia, gypsy music & rock. Be prepared for a big live sound with a theatrical approach to songwriting, reflected in a great live performance. Come see them if you want an unforgettable proper live music!
The River Chickens - Live music for The River Chickens is not a spectator sport; it is an immersive experience that demands your participation.
Soaring harmony guitars, effortless melodies, dizzying twin guitar solos entwined into modern rock anthems and pounding rock rhythm section – that is The River Chickens experience.
The bands first music video for their song “Perfect Days” was released via their Facebook page on January 1st 2017. 8 days later over 27,000 people had viewed it. "Perfect Days" has also been picked up for regional and National airplay by BBC Introducing.
With a rock repertoire of instantly memorable yet eclectic original material, and, if they feel like it a huge spectrum of classic rock cover versions to call upon, their live performance is always as vast as the weather & as precise as geometry. And fun.
Siobhan Mazzei - has been performing as a solo artist for years, well known for her haunting vocals, emotive songwriting and impressive guitar skills. Since the start of 2016, she has had a band behind her once more, who've earned a reputation for heavy, energetic and impassioned live performances and have since made waves across the Leicester music scene, packing out venues, releasing their debut EP 'In Wolf's Clothing' in October and closing 2016 at Brewdog's new year celebration.
2017 appeals to their adventurous side and will see Siobhan Mazzei and the band take their spell binding live shows out of Leicester and into festivals and surrounding East Midlands cities.
Alex Taylor - Dynamic, soulful singer songwriter and multi-instrumental loop artist, compared to the likes of Bill Withers, John Martyn, Jack Garrett & Jeff Buckley. His unique style splices elements of soul, nu-folk and electronica.
Previous support slots include Jack Savoretti, Joss Stone, Roachford & Michael Kiwanuka. Alex also recently headlined the BBC Stage at The Bristol Harbourside Festival, and has played many other stages including Cambridge Folk Festival & Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

The Mojo Slide - is a group of musicians, hailing from Cambridgeshire, united in their passion for blues-inspired alternative music.
Formed in 2011, they released their debut album 'Twist Your Bones' in November 2015 on DO IT Records. The album features a contemporary mixture of classic rock 'n' roll, and blues rooted alternative rock. They have had radio play on BBC, Absolute and Planet Rock, amongst others.
The Mojo Slide are: Mark Wilks (vocals), Mike Fenna (lead guitar), Matt Legg (rhythm guitar), Danny Savage (bass guitar) and Michael Graham (drums)
The Tom Browne Band - are a Country Blues Rock band from Guildford but they regularly gig in London and they have some festival experience too playing on the acoustic stage at Tribfest last year. They have won a battle of the bands competition at Bar Thirteen in Guildford and they were recently picked as one of the 5 acts to go through to the heats of the Yamaha Hoedown: Road to C2C in London. They have quite a different unique sound blending the more contemporary country music with rock and a touch of blues as well as aiming to catch peoples attention and appeal to several generations.
They were formed in early 2015 and their influences are bands such as Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. Their first single 'Grey' has been compared to the likes of Janis Joplin and George Harrison and their latest singles 'Regardless' and 'Mr Oklahoma' have had some great feedback too. They are hoping to release their first E.P at the end of summer this year.
The Skys - are a band formed through a young friendship, the trio are based in Worthing. The band consists of vocals, 3 acoustic guitars and recently started experimenting with bass and drums, delivering a unique vibe onto the world of music. Their sound ranges from gypsy blues to jazz, as well as keeping true to their folky acoustic roots. Influences go way back to Hendrix and the psychedelic era coupled with The John Butler trio, José Gonźalez and so much more.
Ailsa Gray - her music is often described as 'Folk-pop' with the focus of her songs being mainly on the lyrics. Ailsa often writes about personal experiences that she has had and she is very honest about them in her songs. Ailsa believes honesty is a crucial part of song writing as it allows people to be able to relate to her music.
Her influences include artists such as Billy Joel, Ed Sheeran, and Twenty One Pilots.
Homeless Shakespeare - wanted to do something different; something with balls that didn't conform to one or a selection of conventional genres.
Jazz, blues, folk, and sporadic invasions of experimentalism; the more niche 'gypsy' sound, and a fair bit of surreal rap. Using his guitar as a trilogy of sounds, slapping a bass line, thudding a 'kick' sound & strumming or 'popping' a melody line.
The live show is very engaging with the audience and consist unbearable string of clever puns or jokes.
The Red Bears - are Leicester based band creating original songs with an Americana, Soul and British folk feel. Expect a beautiful sound, soulful and up-lifting. Original songs set to a mellow acoustic with a laid back groove, haunting vocal harmonies and floating instrumentals.
The Dancing Wumasters - are a 3 piece acoustic band, playing an eclectic mix of covers, from classics to more obscure songs spanning the last 5 decades. They are Rob (bass and guitar) Steve (guitar, uke and Cajon) and Mark (vocals).They have played together, on and off, for about 16 years now and are really looking forward to playing at Barefoot Festival for the first time!
Idle Empire - Since 2014, Idle Empire's rip-roaring Indie/Folk style has been turning the gentlest of acoustic sessions into a table banging, fist pumping carnival of pleasure. Prepare your ears for salty, anecdotal lyrics, sweet gypsy violin licks, thumping rhythm section and driving guitars.
As winner of the Leicester Original Band Showcase, 2016 saw Idle Empire as regulars on the local festival scene, playing Simon Says, Riverside festivals in Nottingham and Leicester, Western Park festival and Oxjam.
Jesse Wright - Born in Leicester but raised in Spain, Jesse moved back to her home town after 20 years to pursue a life in music. She has brought her Mediterranean infused soul to venues across Leicester and the UK, as well as events such as Riverside Festival and Summer Sundae. In July 2016 she performed with her band for the first time at Leicester's Cosmopolitan Festival, and now in 2017 looks to cement her reputation as a powerful singer and vibrant performer.
Racketeers - are a 3 piece Indie Rock band from leicester, Luke Austin (Lead Guitar, Singer/songwriter) Dayle Smith (Drummer) Jan Wolloff (Bass Guitar). They have been together for 3 years, inspired by the likes of Oasis, Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Who, Kinks and many more.
